URGENT NEWS-Dolgeville Trail Closed
Wednesday, 27 May 2009

It is a very sad day when we have to report the closing of an off road trail.  It is even worse when that trail happens to be one of the finest trails in the state!!! We have been notified that effective immediately the Soggy Bottom Riders Trail in Dolgeville, NY has closed. This closure will most likely be a permanent closure as the new landowner has purchased several tracts of land right in the middle of the trail and does not want ATVs or snowmobiles on his land.  He has blocked the trails with fallen trees and made it perfectly clear that riding is not allowed.  Be aware that if you are caught on these trails, you could be charged with trespassing.  Rest assured that the club is doing all that they can to negotiate the reopening of the trails.  We have offered our assistance and will help out in any way that we can.

Check back here or go to the Soggy Bottom Riders website  www.soggybottomriders.com

for more updates on this situation.

Officer Chris Jones Memorial ATV Ride
Monday, 13 April 2009

Saturday May 9, 2009 At Lost Trails ATV Park

Middletown Township Police Officer Chris Jones was killed in the line of duty on the morning of January 29, 2009 while conducting a routine traffic stop on Rt. 1 Superhighway near I-95.  As Officer Jones was returning to his patrol vehicle after concluding the traffic stop a vehicle crashed into the rear of his patrol vehicle pushing the patrol vehicle into Officer Jones.  He was rushed to St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne where he died a short time later.  Chris was a ten year veteran of the department, a field training officer and a member of the department's ATV patrol unit.  Chris spearheaded the department's ATV Patrol Unit, researching and writing the proposal, which later became the basis for the foundation of the unit.  Chris is a Gulf War Veteran, serving seven years in the U.S. Navy before pursuing a career in law enforcement.

He is survived by his wife and three children.

Please come out and help us support this worthy cause.  Your 35.00 entrance fee gives you access to miles of trails ranging from easy to outrageous and a portion of the entrance fee will be donated to Officer jones' family.
